A stone for “new beginnings”, Moonstone is a stone of inner growth and strength. It soothes emotional instability and stress, and stabilises the emotions, providing calmness. Moonstone enhances intuition, promotes inspiration, success and good fortune in love and business matters.
Moonstone aids the digestive system, assimilates nutrients, eliminates toxins and fluid retention, and alleviates degenerative conditions of skin, hair, eyes, and fleshy organs such as the liver and pancreas. It stimulates the pineal gland and balances hormonal cycles, being excellent for PMS, conception, pregnancy, childbirth, and breast-feeding. Moonstone is also beneficial to men in opening the emotional self. (From Charms of Light)
You can get various colour types of moonstone, the most common types being white ( like I have here) and rainbow. Both are loved by jewellery makers, and for good reason too! White simulates the image of a moon, whereas rainbow simulates a prism and light shines through it more beautifully. Both have similar effects though. Moonstone is seen as the stone of femininity and greatly aids women, although it is also known to help men with their emotions.
Incidentally, today (Sep 19) is known as the Otsukimi (moon-viewing) festival in Japan, where they honour the autumn moon. The calendar is set up so that Otsukimi always falls on the appearance of a full moon in the ninth month. Festivities include food such as dango (rice dumplings) and tsukimi soba (buckwheat noodles top with egg). China also celebrates their own Mid-Autumn Festival, with mooncake. It was entirely coincidental that I uploaded this picture today! What a nice way to celebrate it though. ^_^

On a related note, this pendant was made to order with an origami rose bouquet as a bundle. I’m really happy about getting a commission. ^_^
